Kevin's Upgraded Audio System: Townshend Seismic Podiums Transform the Soundstage

"The podiums (along with the exceptional.Alchris speakers) take my brain to another dimension... This Leftfield album literally sounds 3D. The sound is just present in the room. Just amazing.

I've had these Townshend podiums for about a week. I have to say they are magical. I thought my system sounded fantastic and I was apprehensive about putting them in in case I couldn't hear the difference, but I needn't have worried. The first thing I noticed was cleaning up the bass, but they do so much more. They take the music out of the system and present it in the room, in a 3D immersive experience. They do everything you've ever heard in a superlative, audiophile trope. Soundstage, imaging, detail, clarity, separation, highs, lows, mids, all enhanced. If I had any advice to anyone thinking about trying them, drop everything you're doing and buy some. Maybe you think I'm doing the superlative audiophile trope. Sure. Come round. Hear for yourself. PM me if you want to. I'm in Swindon"

Townshend Seismic Bars Deliver a “WOW” Upgrade to Dave’s Hi-Fi System, Shared in George W. Weathington’s HiFi Fanatics Facebook Group
I know you are used to getting emails like this one but WOW! Noticeable improvements as promised. Some things I’m noticing already: greater overall clarity, vocals are more present and luscious, better sustain and decay, tighter more snappy bass, soundstage seems more organized with distinct images, and overall more engaging. One of the best tweaks I’ve ever experienced in over 25 years in the hobby. Your guidance and communication throughout the many questions and emails is just outstanding. In the future I’d like to explore options for my turntable. A sincere thank you!

Seismic review by Lawrie Newton

In 50 years of being an audiophile, I can honestly say the Townshend Seismic Podiums have been my best investment in music enjoyment. They need no power, no signal and are built like the battleships of yore!
Lawrie Newton
Being a confirmed audiophile since the early eighties, and as my systems evolved, it became apparent through listening to other systems and reading hifi magazines that the matching of kit was essential, together
with the use of bespoke cabling to allow a clean signal flow from all sources, (be it analogue or digital) plus
clean power free from noise artifacts and voltage variation, and careful attention to speaker set up. I found
that taking care of the source and power quality was essential to realise the full potential of recorded music.
I remember in 2017 reading an article in the hi-fi press on the decoupling of audio components from external mechanical vibrations. In this article, I saw products from Townshend Audio, in particular seismic podiums. I remember having an in-depth
A conversation with Max Townshend about the seismic podium that I had read about. My house, built in 1961, had a suspended timber floor. Max suggested that I try a pair of seismic podiums under my Usher Mini Dancer 2 floor-standing speakers. The following week, I arranged an audition with Townshend Audio dealer Zouch Audio in Ashby-de-la-Zouch for a set of podiums that suited the Ushers best. According to the sizing chart, the Ushers, weighing 45kg each, required a size 3. Zouch Audio conveniently had a size 3 set on display that we agreed I could take home for a demonstration.
Lee from Zouch Audio carried out the installation in my house a few days ago. The Initial set-up, using just a spirit level to adjust the four, was straightforward. We placed each speaker carefully onto its podium, readjusted the levelling with the weight now added. Ensuring, by moving the speaker in all directions on the
podium, that everything moved freely (no corners touching the floor) we satback and started to listen.
My system at this point in its evolution was purely based around SACD and the downloading of high-resolution music files/DAC.
I did not expect to hear what I heard. Bass was tighter, more articulate, soundstages were broader, and we could hear much more in the mixes.
We both commented on how the system was also allowing music to flow better rhythmically. This was all possible, we agreed, now that the Ushers were isolated from external vibrations, but most of all being isolated from the suspended timber floor. Even though the pair I bought had been on demonstration, I did notice an improvement over a few weeks of use; only the levelling needed a slight tweak.
After a few months of use, I thought that I would remove the podiums and go back to the Ushers sitting on the
timber floor with their spikes. I was shocked. The soundstage collapsed, bass became blurred and non-descript. The podiums were reinstalled immediately.
Since the purchase of the podiums, I have now given over completely to streaming. Cables have come and gone as progress is being made in understanding cable characteristics and construction. Yet, the Podiums have remained steadfastly and unassumingly giving their best, the kit that keeps on giving.
In 50 years from now, being an audiophile, I can honestly say the Townshend Seismic Podiums have been my best
investment in music enjoyment. They need no power, no signal and are built like the battleships of yore!
Seismic Podiums Steal the Show: No Subs, Just Pure Jazz Vibes!
In my situation, all thoughts of installing subs went out the window as soon as I installed these Seismic Podiums. These platforms allow the potential of your speakers to shine. My transmission line speakers sorted out my long-term annoyance of bass delay from the common rear-firing aspects of standard speaker design. But I still felt something was preventing the full bass ‘thump’ from revealing itself. The subwoofer route would reintroduce ‘timing’ worries. So instead, I went the route of looking at what external issues might be having an effect. Luckily, Chris let me demo a pair of Podiums, and that was it; my speakers were now free from both internal and external vibrations affecting output clarity. These platforms are so successful that people ask me where my subs are when listening to my system, and they are surprised when I tell them I don’t have any🙂🎼

David Vivian’s Audiovector QRs Defy Small-Room Myths with Townshend Seismic Podiums

It's something os a myth that large floorstanding speakers can't work in a small room. These Audiovector QRSs prove the point. De-coupled from their surroundings on Townshend Podiums, they don’t have to work hard at all to generate decent sound levels, but can also go really loud without sweat. great fun

Townshend Seismic Bars Elevate Brodmann VC2 with Unmatched Bass Precision

Jazz enthusiast Jeff scrapped his subwoofer plans after discovering the Townshend Audio Seismic Podiums. His transmission line speakers, freed from vibrations by the Podiums’ 3Hz isolation, produced pure, undistorted bass so tuneful and precise that no sub was necessary. Jeff’s pursuit of perfect bass ended with Townshend’s transformative platforms.

Seismic Bars Unleash a Widescreen Audio Revolution for Glastonbury Speakers
The seismic Bars arrived this afternoon. Wow! I’ve not fully assessed them yet, but omg I had no idea they would have such an impact. So much clarity and separation! It’s like having a new sound system-lol! Thanks so much! 😊 The perfect match for the Glastonburys. It’s like listening in widescreen-lol! Incredible detail and space, and the base is much more realistic. The whole sound is elevated beyond belief! I’d say the seismic isolation bars are revolutionary; there’s no other way to describe them! Everyone needs to know about them !!”

Happy Q Acoustics Concept 40s Owner Raves About Seismic Podiums!

The bass smear has vanished, the voice details are much clearer, drum hits are positioned correctly. The sound stage is both wider and fuller. Pretty much everything that is advertised has happened. I've been after a set for years now. It's great to finally get there. No need to upgrade speakers for a good long time now. The bass is so direct. Lovely. Also my thoughts about getting a sub can wait. I am never upgrading anything unless I can afford to isolate it with Townshend products. That's the lesson I have learned

TAD ME1-K Speakers Shine on Townshend Podiums: A Holographic Hi-Fi Journey
The new TAD ME1-K speakers are sounding pretty awesome straight out the box Transparent & holographic sound around my room I don’t think I will need the subs or my super tweeters I had connected to my Epicon 2, It was quite emotional trading them great speakers in, they have provided years of great listening through my good times & not so good Thankfully my Townshend poduims are still within the recommended cell weight, with a slight overhang 🤣 My first ever new speakers on my hifi journey Enjoying the journey, but more importantly enjoying my music ✌️ Big thanks to Reference Audio ( Adam ) for a great service

Audiophile extraordinaire Steve Coward, known for hosting listening gatherings, shared how Townshend Seismic Podiums transformed his TAD CR1MKII loudspeakers:
I’ve had my TAD CR1MKII loudspeakers for almost ten years. Originally, I supported them on threaded Stillpoints Ultra 5’s (three per speaker), but it wasn’t until I moved to Townshend Seismic Podiums that I felt I was getting the maximum performance available. I live in a modern house (built 2013) and the floor is a combination of concrete, with a membrane on top (something to do with preventing Radon gas seeping through), topped off with a polystyrene layer and chipboard under carpet underlay and finally carpet. Although there is no “void” beneath the floor, to speak of, the surface is not rock solid! The Podiums prevent bass energy from travelling into the floor and affecting other sensitive audio components with low frequency vibration. I have my own remedy for turntable and power amp (placed on the floor) which is to use Seismion Reactio active isolation platforms from Germany. They are a very expensive solution, but do isolate from under one hertz! I am a member of several audio forums and like to share my listening with other enthusiasts. I have met many good friends by hosting and travelling to similar gatherings. I like to think that I have influenced others to go the Townshend route, when considering speaker isolation within the listening room.
