Seismic Corners
Seismic Corners by Townshend Audio: Instant Isolation for Your Hi-Fi Rack

Sizing up
The weight of your speakers is crucial in determining the right load cells for perfect isolation within the audio waveband. Our carefully calibrated Loadcells ensure the ideal spring-mass load, allowing your speakers to “float” and achieve comprehensive isolation from external vibrations. Once this balance is achieved, you’ll select a platform that fits your speakers as shown in the diagram. If there is a slight overhang at the front or back, this may be acceptable. For speakers that don’t fit any standard platforms, we offer a bespoke service to create a custom stand that perfectly suits your setup.

Two Types for Perfect Compatibility
- S-Type (Spiked or Column Racks): Tailored for racks with spiked feet or narrow columnar legs, the S-Type features a precision-engineered cup to securely cradle spikes or pointed supports, ensuring stable isolation.
- F-Type (Flat-Bottomed Racks): Designed for solid, flat-bottomed racks, the F-Type provides a broad, stable platform to evenly distribute weight and maximize isolation.

Key Benefits You’ll Love
Unrivaled Clarity:
Isolates above 3Hz to eliminate vibrations, delivering sharp bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. hi-fi+ praises its “absolute resolution and precision
Lower Noise Floor
Blocks footsteps and traffic noise, revealing subtle details. The Ear notes, “The noise floor drops dramatically.
Wider Soundstage
Creates a vivid, 3D soundstage with precise imaging. The Ear says speakers “disappear” for lifelike sound.
Protects All Gear
Safeguards sensitive components like phono stages from vibrations, ideal for noisy spaces. HiFi Pig highlights “less structural interaction

frequently asked questions
Can Seismic Corners be used with any hi-fi rack?
- S-Type: Designed for racks with spiked feet or narrow columnar legs. The S-Type features a cup-shaped top to securely hold spikes or pointed supports, ensuring stable isolation.
- F-Type: Made for solid, flat-bottomed racks. The F-Type has a broad, flat platform to evenly distribute weight and maximize isolation for racks with flat bases or wide feet.
What are the differences between S-Type and F-Type Seismic Corners?
Townshend Audio’s mechanical low pass filter exemplifies true decoupling, offering a level of vibration isolation that far surpasses conventional attenuation methods. By effectively isolating components from vibrations down to below 3 Hz, Townshend ensures that high-fidelity audio systems perform at their best, free from the distortions caused by external vibrations.
How do I calculate the correct load cell for my Seismic Corners?

Do I need a supplementary platform for my turntable with Seismic Corners?
Can Seismic Corners be used with any hi-fi rack?
- Yes, Seismic Corners are compatible with most hi-fi racks, provided you choose the correct type (S-Type for spiked/column racks, F-Type for flat-bottomed racks) and load cell rating. Ensure your rack is level and stable before installation. For unusually shaped or heavy racks, contact Townshend Audio to confirm compatibility.
Why is it important to isolate all equipment with Seismic Corners?
How do I install Seismic Corners?
- Step 1: Calculate the total weight of your rack and equipment to select the correct load cell rating.
- Step 2: Choose S-Type or F-Type based on your rack’s feet (spiked or flat).
- Step 3: Lift each corner of the rack slightly (with assistance if heavy) and place a Seismic Corner under each leg, ensuring secure contact.

Which Townshend products use Seismic Isolation technology?
- Seismic Corners: For entire hi-fi racks, available in S-Type (spiked/column racks) and F-Type (flat-bottomed racks).
- Seismic Bars: For individual speakers, placed under floorstanders or subwoofers.
- Seismic Podiums: Platforms for speakers, providing a stable base with integrated isolation.
- Seismic Platforms: For individual components like turntables, CD players, or amplifiers. Each uses Seismic Load Cells™ tailored to specific weight and application needs.
How do I know which Seismic Isolation product is right for my setup?
- Racks: Use Seismic Corners to isolate all components at once.
- Speakers: Choose Seismic Bars for compact setups or Podiums for larger floorstanders.
- Components: Opt for Seismic Platforms for turntables, CD players, or other devices, especially in high-vibration environments. Calculate the weight of the equipment or rack and select the appropriate Load Cell™ rating (e.g., 5-50kg ranges). Visit Townshend Audio for product guides or contact their team for personalized advice.
Can Seismic Isolation help in apartments or noisy environments?
Is setup difficult, and do I need professional installation?
- Confirm the weight of your equipment or rack to select the correct Load Cell™.
- Place the Seismic product (Corners, Bars, etc.) under the component, ensuring secure contact.
- Check for levelness using a spirit level.
- Test your system to hear the difference. No professional installation is required, but for heavy racks or complex setups, assistance may be helpful. Townshend provides detailed instructions, and support is available via their website.
